Objectives
An shorebased introduction for people starting to skipper yachts and boats during the day in
waters where they have some local knowledge.
Course Content
The course introduces potential day skippers to the theory of:
- Coastal navigation & chartwork
- Tides
- Weather
- Seamanship
- Rules of the road
- Lights & Buoyage systems
- Safety at sea
- Electronic navigation aids
Process and Result
This examined course is is a face to face course covering the equivalent of 40 hours of training.
Successful completion counts towards the award of the RYA Day Skipper Qualification
